I have a 300CE and am wondering how, the panel holding the carpet down and goes over the rocker panel, is it removed so I can retuck in the carpet? The other question is: sometimes the trunk lock does not work. When I press on the button it goes in but does not unlock the trunk. I have to press down hard on the trunk lid to get the lock button to work. This is intermittent.

ASSume it's a W124 chassis cpe, the sill plate cover comes up by *yanking* on it.

Though I haven't tried to remove the door sill plate out of my CE yet, I removed it from my E by VERY carefully pulling it away from the floor. It was attached to the carpet over-lapping a metal "rail" by pressure, similar to the way a plastic "binder" holds in paper in one of those cheap "book report covers".
Key thing to remember is to lift very carefully so you don't damage the plastic, which can get brittle with age.

If it is a W124 you can just pull the doorsill off (no need to be that careful). It is clamped on the threshold with a couple of u-shaped clamps.
If it is a W124 you can try to adjust the trunk lid lock a little bit more to the outside and it may help getting rid of that intermittent problem. greetingz,
