Getting at Idle Control Valve/Speed Actuator Connector

I am replacing the Idle Control Valve (aka Idle Speed Actuator) on my 94 c220. The connector for the wiring harness is under the manifold and i can't seem to pull the connector.

1. Is this a straight pull-off connector or is there a clip or other mechanism holding it on?

2. I can barely get a hand on it from up top. Would it be easier to get at this from below? Or should i be removing something to get better access?

Thanks!

The best way to gain access to that connector is by removing the wiper fluid tank to clear up the access area, and then lifting the engine from the right side, by using a long bar. Just after doing so your hand will fit in bettween the manifold and the fittings, once you touch the connector look for a clamp type piece, which is securing the connector to the female side. push that clamp inward direction to release it, you may need to use a little flat screwdriver to pry on it, once the clamp is loose pull the plug hardly by moving it up and down shortly, it has an o-ring that gets stuck and makes it hard to get out, WD40 faclitate the removal.

Good luck

Hi. Why would you want to replace the speed actuator- I mean what were the symptoms of its failure?
