Update. After 5 to 6 days of consistent BAS error messages, with no intervention by myself or any technician the error messages stopped several days ago and the car has reverted to normal operation.

The trick is to turn the steering wheel from lock to lock positions after the repair. This resets the steering angle sensor ... you did this by driving and making turns..
