Long shot swap question - will tranny from '91 420SEL fit a '91 190E

I'm guessing this idea will be shot down quickly. I have a 190E (2.6) with a bad transmission, and a 420SEL with a bad engine. Both are 1991 models. Will the transmission from the 420SEL fit the 190E?

This makes me think of a Johnny Cash song I heard a lot of years ago "I got it one piece at a time". I'm thinking that like in the song, when I try to bolt up the new transmission, all of the holes will be gone.

As soon as this idea is shot down, I'll suggest putting the engine from the 190E into the 420SEL.

But seriously, I would like to know if the transmission swap would work.

Thanks.

Brett
