w202 highbeam flash switch not working, highbeams do work

hi,

I can't search a W202 specific answer: My highbeams work when I push the stalk forward but does not when I pull the stalk..... is it surely a defective stalk or is there some weird benz relay things that I should look into before taking my steering wheel apart and replacing it?

thanks.

Please add Year, make, model to your profile

Searched all of your posts to find this C220 W202

Chassis 202.022
Engine M111.961 I4-dohc
Model C220
Years 94-97

My best guess is a bad switch.

I too lost high beams for a while. This is a known problem to many. I got mine to work again by vigorously exercising the stalk.

I exercised it by standing outside the car and vigorously slapped the stalk back and forth. I figured there was little loss if I broke it. The fix is still good a year later.

Wouldn't that be considered spousal abuse?

Sorry, too much coffee. Like whunter, my first guess was a relay or switch.
