I plan to travel a bit this summer, just drive around in the Norwegian countryside and take it easy.
I spotted this really cool Mercedes-Benz ambulance and thought that it could suit me perfect. It's really cheap and the owner says that it is in good condition and he has been putting in a fair bit of money in it but last summer it just died on him and he knows nothing about cars and just want to get rid of it. I have a few questions that I thought I just post here, hopefully you guys can help me make sure that he is not ripping me off.. Well, what I want to know is of course what i should look for in that kind of car, any common problems or stuff that I should know about?... Here is the details from the ad: Mercedes-Benz E-Class 260 Ambulance Year: car is 1988 but engine is changed and is from 1992 km: the car has been running about 328 000 km and the engine about 200 000 km Sylindervolum2.6 Hp: 160 hp fuel: Petrol Automatic Gear ABS Anti spin He claims that it was running perfect and then it just started to cough for like 15 minutes and then it just died. Could be something as simple as changing spark plugs... He also removed all rust on it in 2005 but now there is a bit coming back under the doors, but nothing worse than an evenings work to get rid of. I'm not afraid to get a bit dirty and fix her up a bit before I take her out on the road, but I would of course prefer not to be completely ripped off... I have a W124 230E model 1988 that recently died on me (the cam chain broke while i was driving) and i could probably take parts and stuff from that one... Thanks in advance |
