Changing steering ratio - how feasible?

I drove a truck with 14" steering wheel for 20+ yrs and it had decent turning
ratio. As a direct result of sibling rivalry, I purchased a 99 E320 and felt a bit
like a duck out of water. Totally different type of ride, natch.

I considered changing the steering wheel to smaller but this poses logistical
challenges due to airbag.

My brother's ride is 00 E320 and his turning ratio is a tad quicker.

Any chance this is a relatively inexpensive or easy DIY? ....or am i destined
to drive this like an old guy with plaid pants and white shoes? (i'm embel-
lishing a bit, of course) tnx in advance.

There's a slight chance that you wouldn't have to replace the entire steering rack, if the rack (internal gear rack) is the same between them. I've seen this with manual racks, but have never disassembled a power rack.
