I've used K&N in my bikes, cars, trucks, etc. with good results.
They are priced about the same.

Read a posting somewhere that the K&N causes problems with the MAP because of oil, so the Green is preferred.

I don't get it. Both of these are rechargeble with oil.

When you search for opinions of K&N filters, substitute "Green." They're essentially the same thing.

It's your car and your money, but I wouldn't run a K&N on this sort of application. I also would shy away from buying a car which has run one in the past.

I have also run K&N filters on cars, but only after other extensive changes in the engine. Porting, polishing, carburetor changes, camshaft, headers and complete exhaust. Otherwise it's a waste of money. I've never run one on an otherwise stock engine, because there is no gain. It's simply a waste of money.

Why would I shy away from a street car running a K&N? It says something about a driver, if he thinks a few extra (phantom) horsepower is needed in his car. It also makes me wonder what other useless devices he's tried.

Mercedes doesn't use restrictive air box's. If you did a dyno run I doubt you would see any improvement with the aftermarket filter. AMG doesn't even run K&N's, stick to the paper.

K&N air filters have been thoroughly investigated and found wanting. And there is a danger of excess oil from the filter damaging the MAF sensor.

Maketing , marketing, the last oiled filter I had was in my 53 Studebaker

The green filter is supposed to be more like a 'cotton-weave' construction whereas the red is more like open cotton.

Never used a green filter but have experience with red filters. It can cause contamination of the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. For details, read MENU#4a on my web pages.
