Diff Btwn M117.962 and M117.963 Engines?
Anybody have any insight regarding the differences in the cited engines? From what I can glean the M117.962 is in the '82 (possibly earlier) to '85 500SL (Euro). The M117.963 seems to show up in the mid-80's 500SEC and SEL.
Since the engines show in different models, I'm assuming probably a different oil pan and perhaps different radiator/hoses. Reason I mention the radiator/hoses is I just replaced the radiator in my 500SL and different part numbers showed for the 117.962 and .963 engines. Is it unreasonable to assume timing, dwell, etc., would be the same in the two cars? Any insights are appreciated.

Often times, the difference is something as trivial as engine mount styles (lenghts/angles) - which in the case of an SL vs. an SEL/C would be different due to the different dimensions of the engine compartments.
I'm not saying that is the only difference - I'm guessing that is one of a handfull of small ones.
