M104 EGR System Changed
I was reading Steve Brotherton's article on the M104 clogged Port issue. Thought I would eyeball the M104 in my fairly new to me '97 S320. Looks to me like they changed the EGR set up. EGR valve is mounted on exhaust side and their is only a short tube that attaches to the head. I don't see anything like the 3 foot long EGR tube discussed in the writeup.
Confirmation? Is this re-design really that simple? Steve |

On my E320 (same engine) the EGR tube is attached at the exhaust manifold, then snakes around the back side of the engine (above the tranny), then down and into the bottom side of the intake.
See this thread: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=109372&highlight=EGR+tube On post 15 I attached a picture/diagram.

Yes, I have already looked at all the pictures, But unless I am delusional, my engine doesn't have that tube around the back of the engine. Nothing goes back from the EGR and there is a short metal tube going into the side of the head.
I'm trying to confirm this changed design. Steve |

According to EPC it goes around the back of the engine to the intake manifold. It's definitely a different design but it doesn't look to be much shorter than the early 104/124 setup.

Wish I had the later design. Just spent big $$$ getting a new EGR tube put in. Hopefully, no CE light from now in.
