'02 E320 Trunk latch sticks

Aloha,
Usually, I have to press down on the trunk lid to open the trunk. The dealership said I needed to press the 'trunk open' button on the remote twice rather than once but that didn't resolve it. The doors are unlocked. Any idea how to resolve this? I've even used WD-40 in an effort to ensure the latch mechanism is clean and lubricated.
Mahalo and regards,
Bob

Sounds like the lid is "loaded up" when it is shut. They should try moving the striker out a bit to see if that is the problem.
