1990 420 SEL Aux Fan and High Idle
Dear All,
Let me add that I have searched the forums and can't find my exact problem. I just put a used engine into my 1990 420 SEL and now the aux fan comes on when I turn the key and the idle is about 1300-1500. Unplugging the ICV makes no difference. Do I have a connector that is loose, or do I need to be sure that I have the cooling system purged before I worry about idle speed, etc. Could an air bubble in the thermostat and temp. sensor area caus this? Thanks, Carolinabenz Last edited by Carolinabenz; 04-15-2007 at 11:00 PM. |

Aux Fan and High Idle
Just to share a bit of information: If you somehow reverse the two prong ICV connector with the two prong temperature sensor connector in the same area, you get: Aux fans on all the time and a high idle about 1500-2000 rpm. Reverse the two connections, and you get the right idle, with no fans.
How cool is that? Carolinabenz |
