Repost from R129 forum: Cruise Control/ASR
Hi… I need some technical assistance on my R129 '93.
From several MB forums I see posts that claims that the R129 is born with cruise control if it has ASR. Mine doesn’t have the control arm, so is it possible just to buy such and then have it connected somehow, and have a functional cruise control…? If so, could somebody advice me how or let me know where to find the information, how to connect it and probably the MB part no. for the control arm…? Rud |

What model SL???
The 1993 500SL has electronic throttle body..The 1993 300SL was still CIS & used completely different system. ALL USA versions have had cruise control since the late 70's

500SL '93 sold in Germany

Actually I have a reference to an earlier post FYI: I have added the cruise control successfully on my 1990 330SL-24 with factory ASR. The dealer told me that I could only add a cruise on benzes without ASR (information straight from the MB WIS computer), but couldn't tell me what to do with my SL that actually had the ASR. I installed the cruise control switch and plugged it into an already available connector under the steering column and beware the simplicity of life: I HAVE CRUISE CONTROL NOW! All I needed was a switch and a manual filed hole in the steering column cover (or buy a pre-holed cover for $100+). Wonder if its the same with the 500SL '93 Regards Rud |
