Sunroof fix costs for W201 1993

I'm looking at a 1993 190E with a sunroof problem. One of the pieces that makes the panel go down as it goes back is broken. The tracks are ok The cable is ok. The motor is ok. What am I looking at to either get this done correctly or do it myself?
Thanks,
Jason

Sunroof Woes

parts for my '86 420SEL cost about $300 including cable. I recommend pricing them from Phil (this site) as I got a deal on OEM parts from him. If you're going into it plan to do it right and have years of trouble-free service. Fool around like the PO of my car did, and the sunroof can fail and ruin the cable quide, then you have more problems.
One thing about Mercedes-Benzes: I have never failed to find a part I needed, although it might seem expensive, at least it was available.

Red face

Hi,
You could look in a yard and find a complete sunroof assembly with the linkage. I did this and had spare parts left over in case of a future failure. The dealer will charge you about 150.00 for the one side that is broken, it comes as a complete assembly. Good luck.

Thanks. I held off on the 2.6 Sportline but the information on the sunroof parts is most helpful. I might look for a set from a yard. If only to have in case of a sunroof failure with my new to me 1987 300E.

The 1991 2.3 you have sounds interesting. I think the 190 with the 2.3 would be good for me as a solo get around car. I might just look for a good one to save and keep road worthy.

Cheers,
Jason
