S320 Mirror close assist failure
Good Morning everybody.
I have a 1996 S320. After the door check failed and the door was closed with the window down (ouch) I had the car in the Goodyear shop. Even though I told them not to open the window they did and now the door assist and outside mirror (both drivers side) don't work. Any input what might affect both these items simultaneously. Seat adjustment works fine, door skin repaired and window works fine. Door lock works fine as well. I would appreciate any input. Brian |

The close assist and mirror are two different items. the close assist is vacuun/pressure from a pump in the trunk. The mirror strictly electrical, broken wire in door does the mirror tilt? The connector coming from the jamb has all the wires and hoses. See Brets page

Hello Jim and thanks for your input. Let me point out that the caa worked great as did the side view mirror prior to it being assaulted at Goodyear. Now neither work and it happened as a result of the window being opened (I'm guessing). If not a pretty interesting coincidence. I am not disagreeing with your comclusion. You may have it exactly correct. Just wanted to point out some other data which is adding to the puzze. As always thanks for everybodys input.

The mirror is 'electric' as is the window, so could have lost a power line (somehow) disabling both features . . ?
Probably have to pull the door panel to t/s; the mirror can be accessed by removing the triangle facade. Much easier to t/s. |
