voltage regulator - why impossible to buy??

Looking for the voltage regulator for Bosch 0 124 515 056 (MB A 011 154 9102) unit. Everybody just sells refurbished alternator but not the voltage regulator. It has bosch part # E 00M 145 225, I believe. Is it just another marketing gimmick? Any clues?

Yes, I have. Phil wrote me, that only the whole alternator is available. So I was wondering if cross referencing to other makes could work for this 120A bosch unit??

i have always been able to buy them at autozone, advance auto and a local parts place which also rebuilds things in house. probably not bosch and not as good as bosch but the installation is a five to ten minute job so if it doesnt last as long it doesnt matter much.

Try here:

You'll pay a little more postage but they should have them.

Due to MANY problems including a RECALL that part has changed at least 4 times.......the LATEST MB part number is 003-154-52-06 with a list of $43.50

The correct BOSCH(newest) number is F 00M 145 341. good luck!

Have you checked with dealer to see if YOUR car is involved in that campaign?

MB DOC, I have. You were right (you wrote 02 - 05), the dealer said no, the 01's were not included in the campaign. It is kinda strange, because it is the first production year. I recharged the poor battery overnight, it read 12.17V before and 14.20 after the thorough recharge. So even if I had the alternator checked by automotive electric place and they said it was OK, I think it is the culprit.
Is there a way to measure the voltage at the alternator? The backplate with the outgoing wiring is burried, so I was thining about getting the 2-prong alternator connector from the dealer and inserting and measuring voltage that way. Any suggestions, please.

When the car is running, isn't the voltage at the alternator and at the battery the same?

The first year W203 chassis have excessive current draw problems...possibly killing your battery??

i'd spend the $45 & install that newest regulator & hope for the best...

By the way....Bosch HAS those regulators made in ENGLAND by the power of darkness.

MB DOC, thank YOU so much for the part #. I have the VL on hold at the local dealer, glad they had it in stock. That same dealer told me that they did not have anything for my model and year, just the whole new unit.
I will install tonight and let you know if it cured the car.

P.S. The battery appears healthy after recharge, luckily I discovered at early stage :-))

Try adding an external regulator.

Talking The Prince of Darkness AKA Sir David Lucas

M.B.DOC,

Bosch (Robert GMBH) is having Lucas Manufacture/Assemble/De-Engineer
products for them???

Lucas is why we see so few Aliens on Planet Earth...They are scared of a
breakdown so far from home, with only Lucas parts for repair.

a lot of the newer german stuff has lucas components. i think bosch has gone downhill: they no longer make nonresistor plugs but they make dishwashers and coffee grinders.
