That's nothing.

The guy who lives across the street from me (and one house over) works at the local Mercedes dealer, Penske Mercedes, in Covina, California.

About a month ago he told me that he wrote up an order for a W140 S500 totalling over $9,000 in repairs and maintenance, and the owner of the car (the original owner) approved it without batting an eyelash.

Nothing that the old Amex black card can't handle!

Hey guys, I'm pretty happy I got my car back today. He was right one of the fuel pumps has been out the whole time I had the car. This car is so fast, it has never took off and drove like this. It's like having a new car. Very good acceleration.

So it cost me $ 1,400 bucks.... new vacum pump I even hear it coming on and off after turning the car off, I never heard that the whole time I had the car either..... new ignition switch.... and 2 new fuel pumps and fuel filters.

He advised me on changing the flex coupling??? I think thats the what its called. I guess theres some cracks on it, so I will change that in the summer.

He also told me the motor mounts are bad and to change them soon to. other then that he said he was very impressed and thoguht the car was kept in good shape overall.

T he only problem I had was when I got there the key that I gave him didn't work on locking and un-locking the doors with the button. But opened them all up manually. So he tells me that the key must of been droped or whatever.

So I think ok well at least I got my other key at the house that will work. So i got back to my house and try my other key and nothing at all either. Hmmm the green and red light don't even come on at all or anything with either of the keys. So I figure it's not the keys right?

My question is do you have to re-program the key, or what could be the problem once changing the vaccum pump that would make it so the keys dont work with the button?

Yeah don't let the flex discs fail, if one does it gets super expensive real fast. When they fail the drive shaft often rips a hole in the transmission tunnel, sometimes cracks the transmission case, and on W126's at least sets off the air bag.

Anyone know how I can find out about re-programing a key or what the problem is with my key issue?

The battery is probably dead. I'm not sure how to do it on the W140 keys, but on the W210 key their is a little tray that slides out on the side.

I doubt the battery is dead, because its BOTH keys not working at all. Not just one of the keys. And both of these keys less then a week ago perfectly.

SO it has to be something that was reset or something.

Can anyone explain this to me.....

Note 1: Aim transmitter at a receiver and briefly press any transmit button. Within 10 seconds, lock or unlock car at a door or trunk with the new master key.

I understand the aiming part but what is the reciever? the door lock or what? and I did sort of this when i hit the unlock button facing the door lock but nothing worked???

Thanks
