Question Front fender blinkers, yes or no? Help me decide

On vacation some time ago, at a Mercedes Benz dealer in Hyvinkaa, Finland, (north of Helsinki) I picked up a pair of front fender blinkers, for the 560SEC.

Here's what they would look like on the car:
http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=1521&d=1150979225

These were mandatory equipment for all W126 vehicles in the UK, and also, I believe in Norway and several other countries, so it's not a radical modification.

Mercedes Benz Part No. A 124 820 04 21 "Blinkleuchte" (blinker lamp)

They are in Euro (dark) orange, will wire up easily, and they blink in unison with the left and right turn signals.

My car already has dark orange euro blinkers, with euro lights, so they would look integrated with the car.

The exterior paint color is pearl black.

Possible visibility or safety enhancement?.....

But the fender would needed to be cut for the install, later rust danger?....

Aesthetically, is it a plus or a minus for this car in this color?

(The same issue would apply to all American W124 cars, too)......

Any and all opinions and comment are welcome. What should I do, install or forget them?

Thanks!!!!

Do as you please, although I personally would be very reluctant to " hack " ( no offense ) holes in the fenders.
By the time a professional installs them, ( cuttting fenders, rolling the edges, corrosion protection, etc. ) there seems to be little " return on the money ", as I'm sure you would get used to them in a short time, i.e. the novelty wears off.

The concept of the design of the front lamps is that they can be seen from both frontal a side viewing..the added blinkers are nothing more than Political Beurocrats DOT mandates for those countries ...these guys know NOTHING about Automotive Lighting. They just know how to make RULES..
Leave the smooth lines of the car alone and realise the lighting of a Euro Benz is great just as it came from the factory.

We here in the US had to put up with crap lights b/c of the same DOT ignorance for years..they finally allowed us the improved lighting that Germany had for years............... the guys who make up the rules do not play the game....so that's what happens

If anything, On a Black car like yours, I have seen clear corners that did look pretty cool..kinda brought it up to date..but side lights ??.... nope.
Look at a 230/250sl sometimes in Euro version [ no side lights] Elegantly Clean look..than look at the same chassis in the US version with four side lights [ that's right ..the US DOT made them hang 4 of them on it] ..just about killed what the designer was trying to accomplish for a smooth body style..all in the name of US/DOT...like Frank says .."What does the Government know about chickens, anyway ???"

I'd rather not do it, especially it would stand out too much on you pearl black color, somehow out of place.

My light beige metalic colored 560 sec, amg, euro, has them on it from the factory. The p/o replaced the front markers, and the lenses for those lights with clears. It looks great, just check it out when you see my car pop up on the top of the forum sometime, or in my gallery. The only problem with the clears, is that they blend in, and disappear, on the fender, unless turned on, they're barely visible.

That is just what you want... the problem with the orange ones is they immediately attract your eye and you automatically lose sight of the cars lines ...it's a focal thing that does not enhance...but rather, distracts.......if you know what I mean..
You see those orange corners coming around a corner at you and that is all you see..you eyes don't even look at the car with them staring you down..

kindof reminds me of my old 190c which had fairly big lights mounted on the top edge of the side of the front fenders near the windshield. kindof a taxi look.

i always liked them.

i got a kick out of the idea that they looked like something from a taxi.

not to mention they were very functional.
