making rear shock absorber dust cover?

The right side rear shock absorber dust cover of my 1992 300D disappeared.

Is it easy to make one one and put one without removing the shock?

The left side shock dust cover seems to be made of some cloth.

I just found that the dust cover is not completely gone. It fell down.

Since it seems to be made of thin fragile plastic, I want to be careful.

What is the best way to put it back?

Just snap it in with some force?

Or use some adhesive?

Its only a boot to stop dust wearing the seal down. I'd just use self-amalgamating tape.

I rotated it a little while pushing up. I hope it stays there for a long time.

Good to learn about self-amalgamating tape.

I'd say about half a can from a 24oz Budweiser would do. You know, the big ones like the kind those construction guys use
