Sunroof continues to plague

Hello all,
I spent the better part of the day today trying to repair our sunroof. It periodically decides not to work. I took it off and today had it working just fine except when I put the inside lining in it wouldn't go up. Then I took the lining out and the the roof alone won't go up. I don't know what in the world is wrong with it. The front is also sitting up about 3-4 mm above the roof of the car and no matter what I do, I can't get it to sit fulsh. Does anyone have any experience with these things. This has me really irritated as I have spent numerous hours on it and I can't get it to work properly. Any assistance is appreciated.
