99 E300 DT sunroof problems
My new car has sunroof problems which I just discovered. I was not able to test everything before taking delivery. The car has some warranty and it should be covered I think. I contacted the dealer and so far they have not done anything. Took delivery on Friday 7/9 and I called on Monday 7/12 about the sunroof. I will give them few more days before I call them again.
Symptoms: I pressed the botton in to tilt the back up and that worked, then I pulled the botton to tilt it back horizontal, it did nothing. I pushed the button back it tilted to horizontal and opened the sunroof/moonroof. I pushed the button forward to close and nothing. I pressed the button to tilt the back up the sunroof closed and just before it started to tilt up I released the botton, that is how I closed it. The tilt will not retract or sunroof close through proper sunroof actuation. I also read in the owner's manual that if you press the open button and hold it to the door lever it should eventually open the windows and retract the sunroof. And you can close them with lock button on the remote. Well on my car the remote only works the doors and windows it does not work the sunroof. On my 92 400E I had it for 8 years and not a single sunroof problem so it was not high on my priority list to check when test driving the car. Has anyone experienced similar problem? I wanted to check fuses but I only located the fuse box in the engine compartment. There are other fuses under the rear seat and near the light switch.

I had a similiar problem. It just seem to go away.. The switch may be intermitent. I noticed it would act up when I hadn't use the roof in a long time.. You just brought it.. Is it under Star Mark warranty.. Have them look at it..

Phouse - if it was simply the switch then the remote should be able to move it, but it will not work with the remote either. Unfotunately it is not starmarked. They can starmark cars that have no more than 80K mi mine had 91.5 K mi. I have dealer warranty for 3 mo.

The remote function on these keys needs to be tricked into working for power down windows. Open all the windows fromm inside the car then close them all using the remote and then unlock with the first click then hold the second click down until they all open. It depends on how you have your key set up too but the power up/power down doesn't always work the way you think it should. I have the same car.
