1985 500 SEC AC blower control fixed
Hi everyone . I was not getting any blower or air coming out of my vents durring the AC function. I read where someone said to check your inigtion and wiggle it to see if that might be the problem , and sure enough I thank you who posted that as I wiggled the key in the slot the blower came on and all was good. Now my car was updated by the previous owner to 134. I purchased a recharge kit from NAPA and placed it on and recharged the AC with no problems. Once I figured out where to put the refridgerent in all was well. Apparrently the blue cap is for the input and the red cap is for the output. This I did not know. I love this car.

They're great cars. I have learned tons from the guys on this forum. All you gotta do is ask.
Just a word of caution if you have not done so. Be sure to keep the space below the brake booster/master cylinder free of debris. Could cause a fire because of the blower motor resistor group. Kinda hard to see unless you know where to look, but the resistor group looks like a small box with holes in it. And inside the box are a series of coils that heat up. Fortunately for me I was testing the air conditioner in my driveway(hood up) with the blower on high and poof! The dry leaves and what ever had collected down there over the years went up. Got the fire out before any wires were seriously damaged. Whew!! |
