'97 W210 "Rear carrier joint"

The dealer says mine needs replacing. Parts + labor is over $600. What the heck is a "rear carrier joint"??

Rear carrier joint is a bearing at the point the rear lower control arm bolts to the outer wheel hub assembly.

That ia a HIGH quote..MB flat rate for both sides is 3.2 hrs.
