Voltage regulator for 98 C280 (V6 engine)

Voltage regulator for 98 C280 (V6 engine)

Battery warning light is on (for a few month). Car starts fine. Battery was replaced two years ago from dealer.

Is replacement of voltage regulator doable without taking alternator out of the car? Is there other place I should check? Appreciate your kind help.
