1997 c230 limp home mode help please

Yesterday the car while entering a highway ramp I heard a thump and the ABS light appeared on the dash. I drove the car about 6 more miles and got off the highway. At the first light I came to the car was then in limp mode. I shut it down and waited about 15 seconds and restarted the engine. The ABS light stayed off and the care shifted normally. Later in the day when I was ready to go home from work, I started the car and the ABS light appeared again. I restarted and the light still stayed on. So I drove in limp mode for about 3 or 4 minutes and then tried a restart and the light went off and the car again was shifting ok and I made it home ok about 20 miles. I drove to work this morning figuring that all I had to do was drive around the local streets for a couple of minutes and then restart and then proceed to work. After about 8 miles the ABS and check engine light appeared. Pulled off the road wait and restarted and all ok again. I have not had the chance to get any codes read as of yet, but it appears that my problem has something to do with temperature. Anyone have any ideas? Unfortunate for me my wife wrecked our other car and won't be out of the shop for 2 more weeks. Is there a way to disable this limp home mode feature?

thanks

Thanks, this car had speed sensor problems before at about 50k. At that time I was only getting the check engine light and no limp mode. I will get the codes tonight and see what they recommend.

Thumbs up repairs complete

On the recommendation of Vinnie in Las Vegas, I took the 1997 C230 to G & G ********. They found the differential speed sensor completely clogged. They also had to change the ABS sensor and changed the differential fluid. All I can say is I love these guys for the rapid repair and extremely fair price. I was billed $261 and the car was beautifully detailed when I picked it up (Right at the time promised) All I can say is I found an independent Mercedes shop that I know will not try to bilk me out of my money just because of the Mercedes name. They have a customer for life.
