OK now I've finally got my rear parcel shelf out! After gently tugging on it with much frustration, I yanked on it in a fit of rage and I snagged it out. It appears the centred mounted brake light was just some how stuck on the back window...... who cares its finally out!!!
I've been playing around with the speaker holes and was having trouble getting the 5 1/4"s in a good location that I could properly attach the grills without bumping into that annoying little ridge at the edge of the rear window. I've heard some people have taken the speaker cradles of older 1990ish Honda Accords which apparantly have 6X9's in the back, can they actually be deep enough to sit on top of the parcel shelf and contain 6X9's??? Is this bull**** guys??? Any tips on mounting the speakers in the rear parcel shelf?? MBenz, ScottyC ???? Anyone??? Please offer any advice you can.... I'm still not sure about how I'd feel with "Honda" parts in a Mercedes-Benz...... Please let me know guys!!!Thanks Mike McKinney

When I improved the sound in my former 190D and added some quality speaker to the rear shelf, I changed the complete rear shelf.
I made a shelf myself that was a bit higher as the OEM one to gain some depth that made it possible to mount quality speakers. The height between the steel chassis and the OEM shelf is too low for any good speaker and the home-made shelf made it even possible to mount the speakers in a stealth way (I covered the shelf with one carpet-like speaker clothing). I preferred the higher shelf over a cut chassis...I have mo experience with Honda parts . greetingz,

Honda parts? Did you say HONDA parts in a Benz? Blasphemy! Good grief, what next? Chrysler parts in a Benz? Banish the thought. Seriously, just do what you gotta do. If the shoe fits….er, speaker fits, that is.

6.5" Speakers mount in rear deck
I recently mounted JBL 6.5" speakers in the rear deck of my 190E. They fit with very little trouble. I cut a round hole in the deck cover with a utility knife. I didn't even have to take it out. Go to crutchfield.com. Click the "what fits my car button". That will tell you what speakers will fit your car without much trouble. Of course, you can put anything in there if you have the time and money.

SHYNE,
Aren't you the guy who broke your trunk in Canada? Now you're yanking pieces out of your rear passengers area? Take it easy on that car man! Treat your car like a lady. Good luck with the speakers. When it comes to sound, I say do whatever works best.
