My lights are on crack! - '98 E300D W210
Wooah buddy. My lights have been doing some serious junk because they're ALL messed up. Two days ago my right front fog light (in the headlight cluster) went out. I got the "Lamp Defective." Ok, fine, I'll replace it. The next day, the other one went out, and the error stopped showing up. That struck me as rather odd, because the odds of two bulbs burning out within 24 hours of each other is almost zero.
Tonight (after dark of course) I discover that when I drive with my lights on, my brake lights don't work in the "low power" mode during normal driving, and they don't work in "high power" mode when hitting the brakes either. Great. HOWEVER, when I put the car in reverse, the reverse lights come on, and all the brake lights turn on in high power mode. When I take my foot off the brake pedal in reverse, they still stay on. Front fog lights are still off though. 5 minutes later, I start getting "Lamp Defective" whenever I hit the brakes (which makes sense), but then I get a slew of other errors.. ABS error. ESP error. BAS error. I suspect these other errors are false. What the heck...? Does anyone have any suggestion on where to even *start* on this one? |

Also forgot to mention, I pulled and checked the front fog lights and they're perfectly fine, the bulbs are good and there is no corrosion at all. I tested with a voltmeter when I turned on the fog/running lights, and there is just no voltage to them at all.
