98 S-600 W140 horn problems

My horn keeps honking when I drive. How do I take off the horn pad on the steering wheel so that I can see what is the problem with my horn button. It is emabarrassing as the horn honks a continuous blare as I drive down the street. the only way to make it stop temporarily is to hit the horn pad on my steering wheel.

Help anyone.

thanks.

Thumbs up Spiral Contact

Ignition turned to zero (off) and with key out.

Then you have to disconnect the negative terminal and insulate the negative terminal on the battery. I usa a plastic lunch bag

Then go into the passenger foot well and disconnect the Red Airbag Test Coupling (x11/13). This will disable Airbag from accidental discharge.

Then unscrew the two-torx screws on the underside of steering wheel and remove air bag. On re-assembly these are torque to 6 nm.

The rest should be self-explanatory.

Hope This Helps!

Make sure you have the security code for the radio. You'll need that to reset it. You'll also have to re-sychronise the widows.
