I have a 1993 E300 4Matic.(no this is not a 4Matic question my works fine)
. The question I have is on the climate control system. My fan went dead and at the same time my a/c compresser is not kicking on or off with the dash controll buttons. When the different buttons are pushed you can hear the different flaps opening by way of the vacuum system, but I get nothing. The question is does the death of the fan motor also kill the a/c compresser from kicking on? Is there a way to test the a/c compresser or test the fan? Or does the dash control unit need to be operational before any thing will work and how do you check it for your problems. I have checked all the fuses, and thay are fine.![]() Thanks, IT'S GETTING HOT |

Climate control E300 4matic
Check the "Klima" relay it's located behind the battery in the passenger's side firewall this area is covered by a plastic shield. The top of the blk relay would say Klima & 6 cyl on it.

E300 Klima Relay
I can't find a blk relay behind the batery under the cover. I have two Bosch ecu's and a 4 matic ecu. There is a small square red top clear plastic cover relay looking thing of sorts with two 10amp fuses in it. Does that sound like it?
Also how easy should the fan be to move after you have access to it, my moves ok, but it's not what I would call free wheeling. It moves but it requires a push, it definitly would not spin freely at all. Is it possable that my AC COMPRESSOR and FAN MOTOR JUST "LUNCHED" AT THE SAME TIME?Thanks for any and all your help.
