Check engine light - sparkplugs?

I changed plugs and could only get Champion for my '95 E320. Works fine but I've been getting the check engine light coming on sporadically. I can't get any codes to flash on the black box and have cleared them by disconnecting the negative cable.

Could it be the new plugs? I will replace with Bosch if any one thinks it will help.

I have the codes and know how to check but I get no flashes. The only way I have found to clear the light this time is disconnecting at the battery.

I meant, I have the list of codes but can't get the LED to flash on the box. I have before with the EGR code fault for instance.

I see,
Well , your problem is you have cleared the codes and in doing so, you have reset the ECU Diagnostic memory . You will no longer be able to access any codes from the DM until the car has done ALL EMMISSIONS related self test. That requires several drive cycles.
That is so guys can not clear codes and go get a sticker.
The more important codes you want are in the other modules and they can be owner accessed with a simple tool,

Cruise control

OK. Had the dealer scope the codes and he says it's the cruise control. Quoted $1,500 Cdn and $90 to put it in. What part do you think he is talking about and is there an aftermarket source or someone that will repair mine?

What are the functions of the Warm-up Regulator in MB 126 SE? Will it mess up with the spark plugs and increase fuel consumption if it is faulty as it is happening to my 1984 model? Any comment please?

You should ask them what they are trying to sell you. $1500 CDN, which is virtually $1500 U.S. these days, for "cruise control" doesn't make any sense. It also doesn't make any sense that cruise control would have anything to do with the check engine light. You should probably go back to reading the codes yourself - at least you can be sure of what you're getting.
