Do the pushbuttons on the climate cotrol have backlighting? I have backlighting on the fan buttons and temp wheel but not for the AC buttons. Is there any for a 82 300sd?

I don't know if yours is same but my 82 300D has 4 very small bulbs illuminating the climate control.

Are your push buttons backlit? Not one of mine is and I can't imagine that they all are not working.

Yes. When I had only one bulb working it only illuminated the dial. If yours is similiar to mine, I pried the woodgrain facia off from around the controls and this allowed me access to the 4 phillips head screws holding a black plastic plate holding the control unit. Note that there are more than 4 screws, 4 hold the plate others hold the control unit to this plate. With carefull prying and wiggling the plate and control unit came out and on the back of the plate are the 4 bulbs across the top of the buttons. I suspect you can order the bulbs through FastLane. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping there were no bulbs. Now I must fix. Is there a trick to taking of the wood trim?

Very careful prying on both sides with two fine screw drivers is how I removed mine. Good luck.

Ok pardon my stupidity but what holds the wood trim in place? Are there not some screws or something that must be removed? I tried prying gently but it seemed to be held very tight and I DON'T want to crack the wood. HELP.
