alarm works!!!!
well for about ten minutes. I was replacing my 02 sensor today on my 420sel and I noticed some things disconnected so i plugged them back in as I thought I remembered the alarm system being down there.I tried it out and it honked and flashed like it should so all was well. Later i drove it across town to show my girlfriend and it worked then too. As soon as I left, it kept going off when I drove down the street. After about four bouts of that and a quarter a mile down the road, I pulled over and disconnected it right there. Too bad.

89 420 SEL had a problem; disconnected
When I got my 420SEL a couple of years ago -- in mint condition overall, I found that the alarm system was touchy and would go off in a high wind in the parking lot!! I just went under the right floorboard and disconnected both alarm cables, which stopped the problem. I think alarms are often more problems than they are worth anyway. Ben Carter
