check engine light...?

91 300SE check engine light on the dash is on....car seems to run fine...no leaks...no strange noises...how do I read the fault codes and such? can I shut it off with a special tool.??

That's a nice thread but the fault code list does not apply to your car. A 91 126 body has less sophisticated code reading. Your diagnostic connector may be an 8 pin rather than 16 pin, but the code reader should still work.

yes mine looks like a (8) pin connector...with a little black button you can depress....(California car)....does that button used to reset the light/reade code?? my #2 pin is the black button, #4 pin is a red LED, when i press it it lights up red until i release the button.

Inspected the engine bay over the weekend more carefully...Looks like it could have been a loose vacum hose...I reattached the offending hose...reset the check engine light by disconnecting the battery for few minutes... its been 2-days now...so far no CEL rtn...Thanks again gents!
