Has anyone tried to change the FSS mileage calculation? Or is it hard-coded in the Instrument Cluster/ECU? My '01 ML430 resets the FSS counter to 10,000 miles, but I would like to change it to, say, 8 or 9,000 miles.
Maybe using three hands, you can accomplish this by turning the key, holding the button and changing the time of the clock. Heck, I don't know... but worth a try... or a laugh. Seriously though, anyone know if it is changable?

Far as I know, this can be done on some vehicles, by the dealer with the SDS tool.
They do it in Germany, when customers are using the latest, greatest engineoil ( 229.51 spec. ) in their diesel engines. In that case, they'll reset the intervals from 20 k km to 25 k km. ![]() Not sure if anything can be done on North American vehicles.
