the mirror keeps falling out of the housing. It looks like it should clip back on but I can't access the intrerior. Can it be repaired? Can you tell me how to access the interior of the housing.

Push the housing all the way forward or back. ( Fold the mirror ).
When you look inside, you should see a big "U"-clip.
Slide it sideways with a screwdriver and the housing should pull off.
Then you can see what you're doing.
