shift bushings on 140

Is the shift bushings replacement procedure the same on 95 S320 as it is on the 124??

I don't know about the 124, but I have a '92 S320, and the replacement process was easy.

The bushings are fairly rigid - to the point where you can't just push them into place by hand.

I used 2 sockets - one to support the shifter rod - of sufficient diameter to fit around the bushing hole without encroaching. Place that socket on the bench or floor and position the shifter rod on top. Set the bushing on the hole and place a smaller socket on top, one that fits the bushing pretty well but not too large.

Give the upper socket a good sharp whack with a hammer and the bushing should pop right into place. I think I may have used some silicone grease to ease the installation process.

Good luck.
