climate control
i have a 1984 300d turbo diesel. the expansion value failed (leaked). a new one was purchased from napa. a technician(air condition) installed the new value, valcumed the system for almost an hour. he then recharged with 134 refrigerant. the unit does not seem to be cooling as well as before the expansion value failed. here in south carolina we are experinceing a haet wave with the heat index around 106 degrees. should the climate control be able to handle this? i removed the plunger from the mono value and stuffep a rag in so hot water could not inter the heater core. i believe the mono value was function properly but wanted to make sure no hot water got to the heater core. i did this on a 1983 300d i had when the monc value failed an it worked until i got the repair kit. one last observous, if u feel the metal near the value where the low pressure is monited it is rather cool. all thougts regarding this subject will be greatly appreciated. thank u.

Was the system flushed ? If you switch from R12 to R134a, the system should be flushed not just evacuated.

Did you replace the dryer?
If not this should have been done upon replacing the expansion valve and are fairly resonable on eBay. I paid around $24.00 for one after shipping was included.
