99 E320 with stuck EC light
Hello all, I am new to this site, as well as to Mercedes. I have a 99 E320, with 147,000 miles, that has been having quite a bit of problems lately. The car was originally bought used by my parents, as a daily (in-town) driver to save on gas. The problems started with overheating issues. Since there is no Mercedes indy or dealer within 120 miles of their home town, I picked up the car and brought it to my repair shop. (It specializes in Mercedes and VW). There was an oil leak at the valve covers that was repaired, as well as a couple of hoses, sending temp unit and tension roller. After I got the car back, it would die after it got hot. The car would sit for about an hour and then it would start again. If I drove it farther than 30 miles, it would shut down. I sent it back to the shop and they replaced the fuel filter. I picked it up, only for the car to die before I made it home. I sent it back to the shop and after about a week, the mechanic called and asked if the car had been to anyone else. He said there was some strange oil in the compartment where the control modules are. He wasn't sure what the oil was, but said that he called a mercedes dealership and they told him they had never heard of such and there was no possible way it could have gotten there without someone deliberately putting it there. So, on this visit, the fan was replaced, as well as the crank shaft sensor, control motor for module, a new battery.
Now for the new problem. I picked the car up from the shop, drove it 60 miles and the EC light came on and got stuck. I have spent most of the day today reading the other threads on this site regarding this issue. I ran the tests and this is what I came up with... The first time: 1 120 2 102 3 105 4 105 5 107 6 150 7 10 8 107 9 27 10 60 11 2.5 12 2.3 20 3.2 21 32 22 00 23 32 24 11.5 40 164 41 32 42 104 43 136 EB1419 EB1231 EB1234 EB1419 with the fan EB 1241 I then added 16 to the P2 version code and got the EC light to go off, however the compressor still isn't coming on. I reread the Actual values they are as follows: 1 100 2 102 3 118 4 118 5 112 6 170 7 11 8 120 9 27 10 5.0 11 2.4 12 4.3 20 3.2 21 32 22 00 23 32 24 11.6 40 164 41 32 42 104 43 136 The DTC is only giving: EB1419 now. We have since moved to the same town as my parents and there is no where to take the car. My husband is quite good with cars, however he currently working out of state. It has been VERY hot here and I hate picking up my daughter in a car that is +100 degrees. If this is a repair that I can make, I would like to try. Or if I can't, I'd like to know what to tell the repair shop, as they don't seem know anything about these cars. Thanks so much! |
