I've had to cut off 2 now [my own fault] that have gone into theft prevention mode. I'm fresh out of the process. Anybody have any ideas if the steel shank that jumps into the column can be disabled? On late 140s, this extends when the key is removed and locks the wheel. This gadget causes a LOT of problems, the dealers keep at least 4-5 on hand.
If the key shroud/electronic assembly is removed, then the wheel lock is even slightly touched, it will move to anti-theft mode. This actually locks the screw that holds the wheel lock. Even drilling out the screw is more a problem than just buz-sawing the whole thing off the wheel shaft.
Frankly, I don't care to have the wheel locked. There's GOT to be a way to PERMANENTLY disable this wheel lock thing. There's enough theft prevention on this model already. If all conditions are not met, the motor will simply not receive an ok-to-start code. Not to mention fuel pump bridge, transmission locks, ignition shutdown etc.
Any ideas?
