Window failed on '85 380 SE W126
On my sedan, the driver's side passenger window mechanism failed on me today. I ran it down with the switch on the console but it would not roll back up. The door mounted switch also gets no result.
The window slides up and down with just palm pressure on the window glass now. So I am unsure if the motor failed or if there is a mechanical linkage problem. I guess I need to open up the door and look. Any guidance? Or is this something I should leave to someone with more knowledge than I? Most appreciated.

go ahead and try spraying some electronic cleaner into the console switch. I had same problem and this helped. If the window goes up and down with hand pressure then I bet this will help.

Do you hear the motor going inside the door when you operate the switch? Its most likely the plastic guide at the bottom of the window that broke. It's a common problem and there is lots of info when you search. The door panels are slightly tough to deal with. You have to jiggle them around quite a bit during removal and installation. Just take your time. I replaces mine with washers and a nylon roller, but the genuine replacement part is cheap enough.
