Hey man, Even though you bought your own parts, you should just go to a mechanic with it, if your having this kind of problem this early into the job. They mold them in all different colors according to the name brand they are. If the color won't tell you much, it's the shape that does..If the are all identical except for color, than they are interchangable and it will not matter which ones go where..

If I remember correctly, the ID of the holes of the intake and exhaust valve stem seals are different (exhaust > intake). You shoud be able to use that & figure out which ones go on the exhaust and which ones go on the intake.

Purchasing valve stem seals

What is the preferred source for buying valve stem seals-thought it was recommended to use only oem, not aftermarket (sorry fastlane). Cost difference is about $20. Thanks.

I just did the valve guide seals on my 102. The replacements came as different colors (brown and black) with no indication as to which was which. I was a little thrown at first when I removed the valve cover and saw that the originals on the head were all brown.

As hs_300e indicated, they are noticably different sizes -- it will be evident when you have one of each off which goes where.

Good luck.
