My '92 300TE 4matic is again signaling a 4matic fault. I've disabled the 4 wheel drive per the manual (set switch under hood to "Test"). If I run it in 2wd for a few weeks until I can get it to a shop, will I do any damage. Can I just leave it this way and forget 4wd? Last time this happened (about 2 years ago) the pump and 4wd units had to be replaced at cost of more than $2,000, so I'd like to know what my options short and long-term are. Thanks.
