86 300E center air vent not working

okay so A/C works good, both left and right vents and the feet vents blow cold air. but the center vent doesn't even blow anything out... does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this or attempt to anyways.

Thanks
Paul

Hi,

Vacum related problem. Do a search on "vacum actuators", "vacum central vents", "vacum pods". It's a common problem. Befores dismateling the car to get acces to those pods, check if other vacum operated accesories are working. In my case, it was a vacum leak under the hood because a hose was accidentally disconected during an oil filter replacement.

I hope this helps.

I'm also pretty sure that the center vents are only used when trying to get the car to temp, then the auto climate control shifts everything to the outside to maintain the temp. At least thats how it works on my 87 300E.

That is not correct. Perhaps you too have a vacuum pod issue.

If the AC is working correctly, the cold air will come from the center vent and the side vents, only those vents and those vents all the time.

This is assuming you keep the temp wheel in the blue.
