Axle and flex joint ballance?
Well had the flex joint changed on the 90-300sel. It was pretty easy but, the mechanic forgot to mark the front half of the drive shaft and now there is a harmonic vibration at all speeds.
The rubber on the center bearing is pretty bad but the bearing was fine. Is it possible that being off by a few splines can throw off the ballace that bad? It was not there before. I also need inner and outer tire rod ends. Have them on order. Is there any marks on the drive shaft that will aid in the proper alighnment and ballace? |

I had the same troubles with a 190 2.6. I do believe that the proper realignment is that important. I could never find anything about alignment marks, manual recommended marking with paint prior to disassembly, but in my case it was too late.

I have heard that if you align the ears on the front and back you will be fine. With bad rubber on the center bearing any misbalance no matter how slight will set up a lot of shaking.
Align the ears and replace center bearing and you probably will be fine. Tom W
