Center Console on 1993 300CE

I have successfully got most of the center console unfastened. However, I dont see how to get the top of the console unfastened from the dash. I have all of the wood laminate removed, the climate control and radio out of the console. I cant get the toggle switches above the climate control buttons out of the console. I also cant get the top part of the console away from the dash. Can anyone help.
Thanks

Can you post pics of what you have taken off so far?

It is a fsirly easy procedure once you remove the wood around the shifter then you need to remove the wood in the ashtray area. Remove the ashtray tray (it pops out) and remove the two screws on the very back. If you can, use a magnetized screwdriver to keep the two screws from popping loose.

The top console, where the A/C controls are, is next. There should be two screws at the base, right above the ashtray area. Remove the two screws.

The VERY GENTLY--VERY GENTLY--VERY GENTLY--(get the point?) pull the top portion away. The top portion is "hinged" at the corners on the top section. So pull from the bottom towards you but very gently.

Once you have the top wood out you can access the A/C buttons.

Install is just the reverse.

May I ask why you are removing the wood?

Take a look at this link. Scroll down past the speaker removal section and see how John removed the lower and middle wood (shifter console and ashtray).

Good luck.

I have finished all of the removal you have addressed. I need to pull out the console completely to replace the blower fan motor. And, I cant seem to get the console sides unattached from the dash.
Thanks,
Larry

124 blower motor not replaced from the inside of car

Well, the bad news is that to replace the blower motor you remove the wiper and motor assembly from the outside of the car. Then you have direct access to the blower motor. I did this two weeks ago on a friends 95 E300. You will find much info about that by searching blower motor using the search function above.

Thanks Dave - for the bad news. My Merc. owners workshop manual did not show that. It only showed the blower assy. and a very sketchy view of the general area. However, after you clued me in, I can now see from the sketch that it is probably under the hood.
Thanks again,
Larry

Another question, if the blower fan isn't working, why doesnt it blow the fuse?

You're asking a blower fan question on a center console thread - try a new thread.
