560 SL Brakes

I have a 1987 560 SL which I just replaced the master cyclinder, completely changing the fluid and bleeding the brakes. The brake pressure was fine until I started the car and then the peddle went straight to the floor. Since the car is 150 miles from the nearest dealer, towing is not an option. The dealer says its the master cyclinder and the people I bought the master cyclinder say there must be a air leak with the power booster. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Most likely you have a bad break hose or the screw that you bleed the break fluid from is not tied properly.

I did not notice any brake fluid around the wheels or on the floor. One thing I forgot to mention is the dash brake light comes on when the engine is running.

The dash brake light indicates the side break is engaged OR low break fluid.
Do another check on all of the break hoses even if you don't see oil especially the front ones.

Have you tried re-bleeding the brakes?

I'll try rebleeding the brakes again, when I pumped the brakes there was no change in the brake fluid level.

Correct me if I'm wrong, bleeding must be while the car is running.

No, you don't have the car running while bleeding the brakes.
