ID of Unknown suspect filter housing

Anyone know what the square black cannister is?
It looks like a filter housing of some sort near the rear firewall drivers side near brake cannister or is that power sterring? not sure.

Is this some sort of cabin filter

Would a 83 500 SEC have a cabin filter back inthe days.

I haven't opened it but would like to know what it is before I do.

Thanks

Thanks,

I didn't want to open it until I knew.
No need for me to go in there...

Now I know I don't have to buy a filter for it...LOL

Open it up, and look in there, so you know what your fuses look like when it comes time to buy a new one. There ought to be a few slots with spare fuses there too - if not, replentish them. Always replace a fuse with the same color fuse.

Well wouldn't you know it
I'll be loooking in there tomorrow
trying to see if they look good
& trying to narrow down the source of my dash clicking

Can you take on out with battery installed?
Would there be any problem?
I want to try to figure out which one controls the clicking

Also heard they get old & to replace old alum w brass or copper

I there also fuses behind the ash tray?

They can get hairline cracks, that at first, evade detection.

As far as I know, there aren't any fuses behind the ashtray.

I thought for sure someone would tell him that was where they put the muffler bearing!

The muffler bearing is on the other side - he has a Euro, remember? This side will have the reservoir for the directional fluid.

Careful, Dingos are known to hide inside the "black housing"

I have a few spiders in residence
don't know about dingos
but I heard frogs & snakes like to hide out in the warmth of the engines.

Did you know
aussie cars have boots & bonnets...

Took the black cover off

Fuse box lid has diagram in English
I color checked all ceramic fuses
2 are wrong color
Other thing is I saw the OVP relay
it has the red 10 cap on top of big box fuses

Some of the big fuse holders are shaky
Not sure if thats a problen
Looks like 3 in back
I can remember red yellow & black big box ones
then about 6 silver cannisters w same number on them & one spot empty

I didn't take any ceramic out
they looked like the metal was ok
No corrosion
I can't get my fingers in the tight space to take one out
though I thought best not to touch them now
Do you need a fuse puller?

There are a few spares in front\\

The wrong fuses have 16A red instead of 8A white

8 which is just a headlight low beam left
all other 3 headlghts were white

15 is trunk light safety belt antenna etc which work but code says white 8 Amp
