self leveling system shock/strut
Has anyone disassembled a rear shock/strut from a w124 wagon. there is a leak on my 300 TE (91) and I am tempted to remove it and try to open it up.

I have not seen any rebuid kits, but have seen warnings that things are under high pressure....

Right!
Unless the thing is welded or crimped shut it should come open. I will watch out for the potential high pressure on the air side. I want to find a spare to practice on before crippling my drivable, even if a little leaky, vehicle. If it opens up ok then no harm done. If it ruins it I will keep adding a little fluid every so often.

If you have bad shuts I'd recommend that you buy good used shuts from the junkyard and replace them. I will never recommend anyone to get rid of the self-leveling system and install regular shocks.
