Red face On the road! But...(fuel guage/alarm issues?!)

Hi,

1990 300TE 4matic Wagon

So, after replacing the starter a hydraulic line blew (from rubbing against the oil pan!), and after replacing that...it started running hot (because when I got the oil changed they didn't tighten the coolant tank lid..duh!), THEN I drove it around today, pulled into my lady friends drive way, turned it off. When to start it up again and it would't catch and run! WHY ME, WHAT NOW!

...gas gauge at 3/4. WTC?! Long story short, ran outta gas because:

The gas gauge doesn't work. How do I know this, I went and bought gas poured it in and it started right up...more or less. When I power the car up it goes from light on/empty over to the 3/4 mark, and back if when I power down. Regardless if the tank is full or empty, because I've tried both now!

The car had been sitting since about 2/2006, any ideas what's up with this?

Secondly, whenever I go to unlock the car with what I think is the master key (works everywhere) I unlock the drivers door, and open it, the lights start blinking (thankfully no horn)...almost everytime. And I lock the same (drivers) door when I leave it! I can disable the flashing if I lock the car from the passenger side or the trunk. Weird I say! Why would the alarm go off if I am unlocking the driver's door w/ the master key, when I open THAT door?

Any input is appreciated!!!

Thanks!
-Kurt

Vrooooooooooooooooom, she's alive!!!
