Way back when, another member here inquired about the complexity of changing engine mounts on a 380SEL. Benzmac indicated this was a tough diyer job and that he used "special tools". I haven't fully explored what all is involved, but at this point I know I'll need a good 6mm allen head socket on the passenger side mount. The one closest to the engine has limited access and it appears an L-shaped allen-head will be needed there.

Other than quality tools(Hazet-Stahlwille-Snap-On), do I need anything else? Thanks for your time.

Not really. I use a short 1/4"drive 6mm socket for the mount to frame bolts, but a regular *L* type will work. Also be careful when raising the engine as oil pan is VERY thin & fragile.

Doc:

At another MB site, a veteran mechanic echoed your thoughts about the oil pan. He said to place wooden blocks along the SIDES of the oil pan; not the CENTER.

Thanks for your advice.
